The Triune God Our Creator

Millions of people today, even those who call themselves Christians, have mistaken that the Father “alone” is the Creator while the Son and the Holy Spirit are not. They have no idea that this understanding degrades the Son and the Holy Spirit as a demigod or inferior god.

In fact, there are also people (even church goers) who falsely thought Jesus the Son is not the Almighty God but only a Mighty God just like what the Jehovah’s Witnesses believed. They probably surmise that there is a difference between Almighty God and Mighty God but there is none. The term Mighty God came from the Hebrew term “el gibbor” that decribes the Son as powerful because He is divine. This same description is also said for Yahweh when Isaiah wrote,

Therefore the Lord declares, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: “Ah, I will get relief from my enemies and avenge myself on my foes.Isaiah 1:24 (see also Isaiah 49:26; 60:16)

In addition to this fact, Jesus also claimed to be Almighty God Himself through John’s writing,

Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”Rev. 1:7-8

Let us continue to uphold the equality of divine nature of the three Persons we adore. As the Athanasian Creed states,

“What quality the Father has, the Son has, and the Holy Spirit has. The Father is uncreated, the Son is uncreated, the Holy Spirit is uncreated.”

Let us correct our theology by believing that the Father is the Creator.

But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.Isaiah 64:8

Jesus the Son is the Creator.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:15-17

The Holy Spirit is the Creator.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. Job 33:4

And yet there are no “three Creators” but one (composite unity) Creator.

In the beginning, God (Heb. elohim, plural) created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

The Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit must be worship, adored, exalted, glorified, and magnified together as the one Yahweh who is God. As Reginald Heber, the hymn composer of Holy, Holy, Holy writes,

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
